Yoga Morning School

Personal Yoga Training

Build your own yoga practice.

Personally guided. At your level.
Every morning in Nijmegen city centre.

Monday to Friday · start anytime between 7:00 and 8:30 · Nijmegen city centre

Not a standard group class.

Not everyone does the same thing at the same time. You work on your own practice and do not need to know the sequence yet. The teacher meets you where you are in your practice. Through repetition, your practice develops gradually.

You don't need to know the practice before you begin.

Your first practice is short. At first, allow about 20 to 30 minutes. You learn a small part of the sequence and build from there. By returning regularly, the order becomes familiar and your practice gradually grows with you.

No previous knowledge of Ashtanga needed · start anytime between 7:00 and 8:30 · maximum of 3 new beginners per morning

Your practice. Personal guidance.

  1. 01

    Arrive when it suits you

During guided morning hours, you do not all have to start at the same time.

  2. 02

    Begin with what you know

As a beginner, you start with a short sequence that you learn together with the teacher.

  3. 03

    Receive personal guidance

The teacher comes to you and helps one-to-one with breath, sequence, posture or a suitable adjustment.

  4. 04

    Remember more each time

Through repetition, the sequence becomes familiar. Your practice gradually grows longer and you need less explanation.

A practice that becomes part of your morning routine.

You do not have to decide what to do again every morning. You come in, roll out your mat and continue where you left off.

Regular practice supports physical development, while also training attention, concentration and continuity. The same practice returns, but you arrive on the mat differently each morning.

What you practise in the morning stays with you throughout the day.

The method behind Morning School

Morning School follows the Mysore approach to Ashtanga Yoga. This is not a class where everyone follows the same sequence together. In one shared room, each person practises their own part of the fixed Ashtanga sequence.

You learn the postures one by one and in a fixed order. Through repetition, the sequence becomes familiar. You do not need to know it before you begin.

The sun salutation: the postures of Surya Namaskara A in a fixed sequence
Surya Namaskara A, the sun salutation that begins every practice

The teacher observes and works with each student individually, helping with breath, sequence, posture or an adjustment suited to that moment.

As a beginner, you therefore start with a short practice. It becomes longer as you learn and remember more. Experienced students practise for longer and more independently, while still receiving personal guidance.

Personal guidance from an experienced Mysore teacher

Frank Loeffen

Frank has practised Ashtanga Yoga since 2001. From the beginning, he deepened his practice with some of Pattabhi Jois's most respected direct students, travelling throughout Europe to practise and study with them.

He has taught Mysore since 2012. He developed his own teacher training in Utrecht and has taught guest classes and Intermediate training within teacher trainings in Rotterdam and Antwerp.

Yoga Morning School grew out of those years of experience: personal guidance, regular practice and the time to truly make the practice your own.

Fridays with Jill Naaijen

On Fridays, Morning School is guided by Jill Naaijen, following the same personal Mysore approach. Jill also teaches Ashtanga Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga at Yogapoint Nijmegen.

“Wat een prachtige verrijking is Frank’s Yoga Morning School in mijn leven. […] Frank’s begeleiding en aanwezigheid zijn bewonderenswaardig. Het raakt me dat hij, net als velen die hier komen, er elke ochtend om 6:00 uur staat, toegewijd aan zijn eigen pad én aan de groei van zijn studenten. Dat is zeldzaam.”

“Frank's Yoga Morning School has been a wonderful addition to my life. […] Frank's guidance and presence are admirable. It moves me that, like many who come here, he is there every morning at 6:00, devoted to his own path and to the growth of his students. That is rare.”

“Na een lange tijd te hebben gezocht naar een soort workout dat voor mij werkt, ben ik op de ochtend Mysore-sessies van Yogapoint gestuit. Goede lessen die minimaal maar toch erg effectief zijn vormgegeven. Het personeel is erg betrokken. Met name Frank heeft mij steengoed geholpen om via de practice grote stappen te maken in mijn ontwikkeling in lichamelijke gewaarwording.”

Frequently asked questions

I have never done yoga before. Can I start?

Yes. You do not need to know any postures or sequences beforehand. Because beginners receive relatively close personal guidance during their first days, you begin with three guided mornings.

Do I need to be flexible?

No. You begin at your current level.

Why does the intro include three mornings?

Mysore is taught step by step. After one morning you have mainly been introduced to the method; after several mornings the structure begins to feel familiar.

How often should I attend afterwards?

To develop a consistent practice, we recommend at least three mornings per week.

Do I have to start at 6:00?

No. Experienced students can practise independently from 6:00. Personal guidance is available from 7:00 to 8:30.

How long does my practice take?

Beginners usually start with about 20 to 30 minutes. Your practice then gradually becomes longer.

Is Morning School the same as a regular yoga class?

No. You do not follow a standard group class. Everyone works on their own practice and receives individual guidance.

What if I have an injury or physical limitation?

Ask beforehand whether taking part is suitable for you, and discuss any relevant injuries or medical limitations with the teacher.

Begin with three mornings.

Experience what it is like to build a practice that you learn and make your own, step by step.
